Why Freeze dried food ?

Extreme food has been developed by an integrated nutritional team of experts in their respective fields. Extreme Foods mission is to raise the bar for outdoor instant freeze dried meals, especially in terms of taste, quality, scientifically nutritionally balanced & high quality ingredients.

Research into the optimum nutritional elements have enabled extreme food to be developed with the exact amount of energy required per serving 500kcal, The range of meals are fixed at 500Kcal each offering the highest calories/energy available on the market Vs the lowest finished packed weight & volume. All meals weigh between 101g to 105g.

Why should I choose Extreme Food products instead of other freeze-dried meals offered on the market?

Compared to other freeze dried meals offered on the market, Extreme Food meals are nutritionally balanced, using high quality natural ingredients, with no artificial colourings or preservatives, meals taste as if they were just prepared and have an incomparably higher calorie content with a lower packed weight & volume. This gives the end user the chance to lower their weight burden & reduce overall pack weight, or carry more energy still with an overall weight saving against other market competitors.

What is freeze drying?

In the first step of the freeze-drying process the product is frozen. Then the surrounding pressure is reduced resulting in a vacuum. The frozen water content sublimes directly from the solid phase to the gas phase. The whole process takes 16 to 24 hours depending on the size of the product. Through dehydration the meal loses over 90% of its original weight. The moisture content is reduced to 2% which inhibits the action of micro organisms and enzymes. In a hermetic sealed packaging the product can be stored at room temperature without refrigeration for many years.

What are the major advantages of freeze dried meals?

FRESH TASTE

Freeze-dried food retains its original taste. Freeze drying removes only the moisture content. The flavour remains unchanged.

HIGH NUTRITIONAL VALUE

Freeze-dried food has a very high calorie count. Additionally it maintains all of the food’s natural vitamins and minerals.

ORIGINAL FORM AND SIZE OF PRODUCTS

Contrary to other dehydration methods freeze-dried food maintains its original shape and size.

LOW WEIGHT

During the freeze drying process 98% of the moisture content are being removed, which results in significant reduced weight. The meals are lightweight and compactly packed.

LONG SHELF LIFE

Freeze-dried food can be stored for a long time. Since the water content is being removed during the freeze-drying process micro organisms and
enzymes action is inhibited. Thanks to the hermetic sealed packaging water and oxygen are prevented from entering the meal.

SIMPLE PREPARATION

When sublimation occurs during the freeze-drying process air gaps are generated in the product. Adding water makes the meal ready to eat within
very few minutes.
